Was configuring the people search and found this article which explains it in great detail.
In my demo VM I was trying to demonstrate the People Search and it wasn't returning results. This is because it hadn't crawled in my AD. With the VM being on only when I'm using it it'd never hit the overnight crawl schedule so I manually fire it off.
Basically you need to go to SSP: User Profile and Properties : Configure Profile Import. Once you’ve set this up here you then click on Start full Import to pull them in.
I found that there wasn't much information out there on the Internet on People Search. I followed the kitchen sink tutorial on installing a MOSS VM and this showed how to set it up but best to fire this off manually to ensure it's all crawled in.
