Found SportsDo through my daily reading. When I saw the new Apple add-on for your iPod with Nike's new piece of kit...I started thinking more about GPS and my PDA. I had seen some applications that would keep track of your routine via GPS and SportsDo does a damn good job of it! An example here shows a drive through Auckland and shows the start and end points and you can even play the journey s more...

Just came across the Microsoft Forums on their web site via the WSSv3 FAQ site, I use Firefox as it's quicker at Tabbed browsing than Internet Explorer and displays mosts sites better than IE except for Microsoft ones! I can't believe they haven't got these forums working other browsers and also most of their own sites also! Atleast the Sharepoint team took the time to make it work in Firefox! It more...

I followed Amanda's instructions to the letter and got results as described, but for some reason got this error on Step 11!"Windows could not start the Office Sharepoint Server Search on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code -2147467262." Oh yeah..." more...

Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 beta 2

I've been using Windows Media Player 11 beta 2 for a while now, mainly to synchronise my music from my laptop to my miniSD card to listen to on my O2 XDA Atom. The only thing that really bugs me is that it's not true synchronisation, for example, it doesn't on sync pass back to the Media Player the play count or date last played. I use a set of Jabra BT620s bluetooth headphones which have volume, more...

Wanted install a new player called PocketPlayer by Conduits. But had an issue with space left on my O2 XDA Atom. Found Keni Barwicks blog post on it which changes where temp directories are stored ... e.g. on external miniSD storage. Which basically extends Fred Pullen's idea.Want to see whether PocketPlayer does Play count on mp3 files...as I did some testing last night and it doesn't on Windows more...

I've been meaning to get a USB Thumb drive for a while now and have been managing on my PDA plugged in transferring via that. Although that means that you need to install ActiveSync on each machine you plug into, which is not always practical.I went on ebay and found a USB THumb drive card reader. IT reads SD, MMC and RS-MMC. I've got an adapter for my 2Gg MiniSD cards that fit my O2 Atom. So now more...

Team Foundation Server Mailing List

Found lots of talk from TFS community about a new Mailing List which Grant Holiday has set up in the East. I've never been a big fan of mailing lists due to the way I use my inbox as a kind of read and archive style approach in GMail or tag to action or await a reply. So unless I feel like reading the mailing list email it kind of either gets archived straight away or deleted. I'm going to be pat more...

I've just updated jiggyjigs.com to 4.3.4 of DotNetNuke which includes an update to the DNN Store module to 1.0.1 from it's buggy v1.0.0. Straight away the main improvement is the speed of the entire CMS, it's lightning quick compared to what it was on at 4.0.2! What a difference a few builds make! I really want to get behind these guys and help them out. Been digging through the source code over more...

I've been reading about the Microsoft Windows Workflow Platform with some interest for a while now and it's use in Sharepoint 2007 and Team Foundation System. The MSDN site has plenty of information on it, but I found this great article introducing it all. Still, what completely amazes me is the Microsoft.com search engine...I use Google full time now with the "site:microsoft.com" tag t more...

I've been trying to set up my development machine with DotNetNuke 4.3.4 and get it debugging in Visual Studio. M$ are making their big play by announcing the Zune media device. They'll be plenty of coverage over the next few weeks on this Toshiba built device that M$ hopes stomps on the iPod. First impressions are that the community side of device being able to send photos, videos and music between devices is a great idea. Especially even DRM music which allows 3 plays of a song with a feature to flag thi more...

Nintendo really did miss the boat in the console war with regards to the PS One and M$ Xbox wars. They are now playing catch up with the Wii (pronounced Wee). I always prefered Nintendo games becuase of the simple gameplay and multiplayer options over the PS/Xbox type eye candy graphics with terrible gameplay or slow to pick up game learning curves. It'll be great to see Mario on the screens again more...

I've done a DotNetNuke 4.0.2 install for a friend a while ago for his http://www.jiggyjigs.com/ site. He uses the DNN Store project module which has quite a few bugs in it. He's having trouble upgrading from v1 to v2 and I've noticed in the forums that a guy has taken the code and is selling it for £50 with a few add-ons for multiple shipping costs, tax etc.. The issue is that if DNN store upgrad more...

I'm currently doing some project work with Microsoft Word 2003 using VBA to populate a Document template.
