The $13,854USD bounty has been paid to Colin Nederkoorn by the
community who put out a request as soon as the Intel Mac's were announced. It's taken a while, but it was inevitable. Nothing is hack proof!
I can see some potential in this with regards to using both OS on one machine...especially if you are mobile. Although I currently have a Mac Powerbook and a Asus PC laptop. The Mac laptop sits in my wardrobe as the PC can do everything the Mac can for me and also allow me to develop my .Net applications in Visual Studio and run a MS SQL server instance etc.
We had a discussion the other day that eventually the OS won't be important as Microsoft and Google compete to produce online solutions for our everyday business such as Word Processing, Spreadsheets with
Microsoft Office Online (
blog post) and
Google acquiring Writely. They have already conquered the e-mail market, instant messeneger market and Google are rumoured to have an online
Calendar imminent.
With the further promise of
Google Drive it also leads towards not having your own machine but just having access to the Internet via a terminal where it can all be reached by. I also just came across the
Google 2005 Annual report where it lists what they've been up to this year...it's quiet incredible to see what they have achieved in one year.
I think this is why Apple diversified more into iTunes and making this their first cross platform application to sell music and videos. I'm sure there are other marketing streams coming from Apple very soon too. They don't sit still for too long!
