Okay, think of a 'buzz-word' and Google have a workforce of minions going at it to come up with the next thing to take over the Internet...GMail, GTalk,
Google Reader,
GMail and Gtalk...and now
Google Pages! A AJAX Content Management Editor.
I had a
home page going in about 5 seconds clicking on the editable areas required...you can have links to other pages, urls, emails, contacts. They're even using AJAX to add images which you have options on what sizes you want them too! You can't have a link on an image though ;-(
There are templates to change the look and feel...but I reckon there are some other things coming as a natural progression to take on Blogger for instance and Flickr!
What will they come up with next!?!
Thanks to
Nik Cubrilovic for reporting this which I read in my Google Reader app!
I'm literally a Google house apart from still using Yahoo Toolbar to store all my bookmarks in. So maybe they'll get something like this out shortly too! Maybe on their Google Bar. It's so handy having your bookmarks everywhere you go!
So they now enter the territory of GeoCities, Yahoo and MySpace with legal implications of what is shown on their site..."The content on my pages may be unsuitable for minors." is a little check box in the Site Settings and the terms and conditions are pretty heavy. Obviously they don't want anyone suing them for all the money and hopefully no-one is dumb enough to host their home-grown porn site on their site!
