Well with Apple announcing their raise of income this year by 530% I can see the power of Apple's marketing force. Brading counts for a lot and I feel this is the success behind the iPod against its rival MP3 players such as Creative Zen and Nomad Jukebox. The simplicity and ease of use of the device and the software, iTunes, allows people with very limited knowledge to use it. It's seen to be cool to have one...like the rest of Apple's products.
The Tiger release on the 29th of April is going to be interesting. They show Microsoft how it should be done. I mean every release is hyped up and the features do look incredible. I'm looking forward to Konfabulator...I mean Dashboard ;-) I'm a bit ashamed of Apple for using their idea without actually giving them any credit or offering them in on it. It kinda shuns the whole open source community that OSX has reinvented with it's UNIX base.
I for one, as s programmer will definately be developing Widgets and am interested in Apple's for the community to get involved in this. It opens up all sorts of potential with web services providing information to your desktop. I found Konfabulator a very hungry application so it'll be interesting to see how this does being a DHTML based component...probably based on the Safari kernel.
Well, I've preordered it as well as iLife to get the new features in iPhoto for my 5000 photos and growing and also the new iDVD and iMovie features which I'll be using to cut home movies with once I purchase a new Compact Video Camera like the Sony IP7.
