MLRH - The tournament

Well, I was hoping that this may have been the turnaround point for the sport. But it appears that the MLRH has caused as much fuss as the other Associations in organising a tournament. I received an email from Carl Morgan today after chasing for results from the tournament (as I've yet to receive anything about it).

The long and short of it was that he didn't actually go to the event “Basically the reason was due to the lack of planning by Bill and unconfirmed game schedules. He wanted to do all the work himself and I just could not get the asnwers I needed.“

THE BEST BITS

From reading the forums it seems that the CJ Yoder camp was the highlight of the event. This is great for opening up the USA sport to the UK without people having to fork out to pay to go to the states.

I would imagine the MLRH vs. GB would have been a good game...although I don't even know the result and don't even know who was in each team?!?

PUBLICITY

There was a worthy comment in the forum regarding the publicity revolving this event to the local public. Ryan suggested that it would have been worth while targetting the hockey shops with posters to make people aware of the event to get spectators there. Afterall some of the international teams had come a long way to play these games.
Again, this is a big downfall of the sport not using the resources they have available to them to their best uses.

CONTRIBUTING

It will be interesting to see who actually competed in the tournament and at what ages to see the balance across the country of the competition. Were there any last minute entries to fill spots that were dropped?

I am not knocking this association in any way, it's probably what the sport needs...someone who actually admits to running it as a profit making organisation. Lets just hope they take everything on board that people are saying and make it the great game it could be.
